Describing Saratoga in the late 30’s and 40’s Hattie said, “Saratoga was fast, man; it was real fast. It was up all night long.” Thriving in her Federal Street location for 30 years, Hattie’s was open 24 hours a day providing hospitality to the late-night crowds that frequented the gambling dens, speakeasies, and smoky jazz and blues clubs of Saratoga’s West side. When urban renewal came to Federal Street in the late 60’s, Hattie relocated the restaurant to its current location at 45 Phila Street. Hattie's has been in operation since 1938 and on Phila Street for close to 60 years! Come on down and help us carry on Miss Hattie's legacy.

This event raises thousands of dollars for the Alliance for Positive Health’s local HIV/AIDS programs and services as we donate a percentage of your bill to the cause. THE FIRST NEW ORLEANS MARDI GRAS PARADE WAS 177 YEARS AGO New Orleans has been celebrating Fat Tuesday with parades since 1837. The first floats appeared in the parade in 1857. MARDI GRAS IS A STATE HOLIDAY IN SOME PLACES Fat Tuesday is an official state holiday in Alabama, (the home of the first Mardi Gras paradeand 2nd biggest current celebration), Florida, and parts of Louisiana. Although it's not a state holiday in Texas, Galveston is home to one of the biggest celebrations in the country! BEADS HAVE BEEN A TRADITION SINCE THE EARLY 1900's Beads were first thrown by Santa during a parade in the early 1900’s. People also throw stuffed animals, toys and more.
